St. Luke's Builds Twin Falls Hospital

St. Luke’s Hospital is building the $220 million Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. The hospital will be completed in late spring of 2011. The 700,000-sf project will include a patient tower and a diagnosis and treatment wing.

University of Florida Constructs Aquatic Animal Health Facility

The University of Florida is planning to construct the $2 million Aquatic Pathobiology Laboratory in Gainesville. Funded by $1.267 million from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the 6,990-sf research facility will include the Aquatic Animal Health Facility, small and large animal necropsy, molecular diagnostics, aquatic animal holding, and water preparation rooms.

Cookeville Regional Medical Center Completes Patient Tower

Cookeville Regional Medical Center completed construction of its $80 million, 228,000-sf North Patient Tower in late November of 2008. Located in Cookeville, Tenn., the six-story project began construction in fall of 2006 with occupancy slated for January of 2009. The tower features a 30-bed ICU, a 33,000-sf cancer center with a TomoTherapy unit, cardiac care, medical oncology, post surgical care, and pediatrics. The project was built by Turner Universal of Brentwood, Tenn.

CDC Contracts with SRA International for Select Agent Monitoring

The CDC’s Division of Select Agents and Toxins has awarded SRA International a $24.9 million contract to provide laboratory support services to the Select Agent Program. Awarded in September of 2008, the five-year contract is a recompete of work the company has supported since 2002 through the acquisition of Constella Group. Under the contract, SRA will continue to help CDC track the possession, use, and transfer of select agents in the U.S.

West Virginia Wesleyan College Builds Reemsnyder Research Center

West Virginia Wesleyan College is constructing the David E. Reemsnyder Research Center in Buckhannon, W.V. Slated for completion by year-end 2009, the 23,000-sf facility will be connected to the existing Christopher Hall of Science by a bridge walkway. Housing undergraduate teaching and research, the $8.7 million Reemsnyder Research Center will include classrooms, laboratories, offices, an animal care facility, an instrumentation room, a cold room, a prep room, and a tissue culture room. The general contractor is Arctecon Construction of Wexford, Pa.
