University of Queensland Builds Gatton Veterinary School
The University of Queensland is relocating the School of Veterinary Science from Brisbane to Gatton, Australia. Housing teaching and research facilities, the $100 million project is slated for completion in late 2009. The $33 million Centre for Advanced Animal Science, funded by the Queensland Government, is also under construction in Gatton.
Good Samaritan Completes Huber Heights Health Center
Good Samaritan Health Center completed its new healthcare facility in Huber Heights, Ohio, in December of 2008. Created in partnership with Alter+Care and the city of Huber Heights, the two-story, 50,000-sf project houses outpatient services, primary and specialty care, imaging, laboratory, physical therapy, and women's health. The facility was designed by TVS Architects and App Architecture with Danis Construction Company as general contractor.
Oak Valley Hospital Breaks Ground on Oakdale Facility
Oak Valley Hospital broke ground on a $69 million hospital in Oakdale, Calif., on December 3, 2008. The two-story, 123,000-sf facility will include an emergency room, surgical suites, recovery rooms, CT and MRI imaging, and inpatient rooms.
Abbotsford Animal Health Centre Opens Testing Lab
The British Columbia Agricultural Council completed a $14 million CL-3 testing laboratory at the Animal Health Centre in Abbotsford in December of 2008. The veterinary diagnostic laboratory will test animal samples for infectious diseases and features sophisticated air filtration, waste handling, and decontamination systems. Construction began on the project in December of 2006. Operations will begin at the new facility in early 2009 following commissioning by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Completes Heart and Vascular Institute
Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital completed an expansion of its healthcare campus in Santa Rosa, Calif., in late fall of 2008. Comprised of the $57 million Heart and Vascular Institute and the $33 million, 80-bed Center Wing, the project was designed by RBB Architects with KPFF as structural engineer. HMH Builders was the general contractor for the Heart and Vascular Institute. The inpatient wing was built by Wright Contracting.
