Marian Medical Center Breaks Ground Hospital Facility
Marian Medical Center broke ground on a $210 million hospital building on its medical campus in Santa Maria, Calif., in June of 2008. The technology-rich 216,000-sf facility will house 188 beds in private rooms, a neonatal intensive care unit, and a healing garden. The project is part of a three-year expansion and renovation of Marian Medical Center.
Bristol University's Centre for Nanoscience Nears Completion
Bristol University’s £11 million Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information is slated for completion in summer of 2008. Featuring laboratories with extremely low vibration, acoustic noise, and air movement, the £10.6 million, four-story project began construction in October of 2006. The project team includes architect Capita Percy Thomas, contractor Willmott Dixon, and project manager Capita Symonds.
UW Madison Builds Sustainable Student Union
The University of Wisconsin-Madison has selected Milwaukee-based CG Schmidt as construction manager for the new $82 million South Campus Union. The project includes demolition of the existing structure and will begin in January of 2009. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which will include recycling of construction waste, use of local building materials, energy-efficient building systems, and daylighting.
Helen Keller Hospital Builds Outpatient Surgery Center
Helen Keller Hospital initiated construction in early summer of 2008 on a $7 million outpatient surgery pavilion in Sheffield, Ala. The 16,500-sf facility is slated for completion in January of 2009 and will include an on-site lab for blood sample testing.
SANYO Announces ENERGY STAR Compliant Solutions
SANYO Commercial Solutions, a division of SANYO North America Corporation announces that due to new multi split and VRF testing, three additional models are now ENERGY STAR qualified. Equipment that meets these standards allows homeowners and building owners to take Federal Tax credit for having high efficiency equipment installed. Products that earn the ENERGY STAR rating use less energy and prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
