Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Opens Perinatal Facility
Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital completed the 8,700-sf Maternal-Fetal Medicine Diagnostic Treatment and Research Center (MFM) in Loma Linda, Calif., in May of 2008. Designed by gkkworks and built by Turner Construction, the project involved extensive renovations to the 11-story hospital’s third floor to create a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management center for high risk pregnancies.
Boston Medical Center Constructs Ambulatory Care Center
Boston Medical Center is planning to build a $189 million ambulatory care facility. Developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Health and Educational Facilities Authority, the nine-story, 245,000-sf project will be constructed in Boston’s South End upon demolition of the existing facility.
University of Rochester Medical Center Opens Wilmot Cancer Facility
The University of Rochester Medical Center opened the $61 million James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, N.Y., in May of 2008. The four-story, 164,000-sf facility features the Radiation Oncology Treatment Center with five linear accelerator systems and advanced imaging technologies. The facility also houses the 5,000-sf Comprehensive Breast Care Center, the 46-chair Infusion Center, a family resource center, meditation rooms, and a three-story atrium.
Pima County Constructs Psychiatric Hospital and Recovery Center
Pima County has selected Gilbane Building Company to build two psychiatric facilities in Tucson. The 144,042-sf Psychiatric Hospital will house 80 to 100 inpatient acute care beds, psychiatric urgent and emergent care, psychiatric court hearing rooms, and basic clinical studies for neurology and psychiatry. The 64,100-sf Psychiatric Clinic Recovery Center will house comprehensive screening, assessment, crisis stabilization treatment, and triage capability.
Froedtert Hospital Dedicates Cancer Center
Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Medical College of Wisconsin, dedicated its $95 million cancer center in Milwaukee in May of 2008. The 173,000-sf patient-centered facility will accommodate multi-disciplinary teams of doctors and health care providers, enabling patients to undergo testing, consult with physicians, and receive treatment in a single location.
