Yeshiva University's Center for Genetic and Translational Medicine Nears Completion
Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University will open the $200 million Michael F. Price Center for Genetic and Translational Medicine on its Bronx campus in New York in June of 2008. The 201,000-sf, five-story facility is located in the Harold and Muriel Block Research Pavilion and houses 40 laboratories, research support space, and a 100-seat auditorium.
Mayo Clinic Dedicates Wendel Musculoskeletal Center
The Mayo Clinic dedicated the W. Hall Wendel Jr. Musculoskeletal Center in May of 2008. The 245,000-sf center houses 57 examination rooms, eight outpatient operating rooms, four image-guided injection rooms, and a rehabilitation/physical medicine center. The multidisciplinary orthopedic facility features an integrated design that allows patients to obtain imaging, consultation, and treatment in a single location. Funded by a $27.5 million gift, the facility is located on floors 14 and 15 of the $375 million, 1.5 million-sf Gonda Building in Rochester, Minn.
Eli Lilly Dedicates Bioproduct Research and Development Laboratory
Eli Lilly dedicated the Bioproduct Research and Development Laboratory in Indianapolis on May 12, 2008. The 475,000-sf, four-story facility will accommodate 500 scientists and staff in 33 labs engaged in biopharmaceutical research. The project represents the final phase of construction at Lilly’s three-building biotechnology complex. The first two phases include a 250,000-sf bioproduct manufacturing plant and a 10,000-sf research support facility, both completed in fall of 2006.
University of New England Breaks Ground on Morgane Hall
The University of New England celebrated the groundbreaking of Peter and Cecile Morgane Hall in Biddeford, Maine, on May 9, 2008. The academic facility will house undergraduate classrooms and teaching labs for biology and chemistry. Occupancy is slated for the spring semester of 2009.
Whitworth University Constructs Science Center
Whitworth University will begin construction in late spring of 2009 on a $37 million science center in Spokane, Wash. The three-story, 63,000-sf facility will house labs, classrooms, and offices for the departments of biology and chemistry. Completion is expected by fall of 2010. The facility is part of a $53 million project to upgrade and expand Whitworth’s science facilities. The second phase is comprised of a $16 million, 16,000-sf addition to the existing Johnston Center slated for completion in 2011.
