Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is expanding and remodeling four major departments at its 37-acre Glendale, Ariz., campus.
Banner Baywood Heart Hospital Completes Expansion
Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. ,completed the $13-million expansion and renovation of its cardiovascular ICU and telemetry nursing suites in January 2004. Designed by van Dijk Westlake Reed Leskosky of Phoenix, Ariz., the project included the fit-out of 32,000-sf of shell space on the hospital’s fifth floor for new cardiovascular ICU rooms and telemetry, a new elevator tower, and the remodel of an existing telemetry unit on the fourth floor.
UT Southwestern Creates Pediatric Pharmacology Research Center
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas will create a pediatric pharmacology research center with a $2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The center, one of thirteen in the nation, will be sited at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. It will study how children react to drugs.
ChevronTexaco Consolidates with Houston Tower
ChevronTexaco is consolidating area operations with the purchase of a 40-story office tower in Houston. The 1.2 million-sf building was originally built for Enron but never occupied. Chevron Texaco is also purchasing an adjoining 1,100-car parking garage. The new facility will accommodate approximately 3,700 employees.
Straumann USA Opens Andover Facility
Dental device maker Straumann USA will open its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Andover with the lease of 155,000 sf to 165,000 sf at 100 Minuteman Drive. Owned by Brickstone Properties Inc. of Andover, the facility will accommodate the company’s local headquarters as well as manufacturing and assembly operations. Straumann will occupy the entire first floor and some of the second floor in the 321,000-sf facility, which features 24-foot clear heights. Straumann USA is a division of Switzerland-based Straumann Holding AG.
