General Motors Moves Distribution Center to Hudson
General Motors Corp. is relocating a large parts-distribution center from Edina to Hudson, Wisc. The $34-million project will site a new 404,000-sf warehouse facility on 30 acres in the St. Croix Business Park.
Biorefinery Facility Planned for Oregon
Treasure Valley Renewable Resources is planning to construct a new biorefinery plant near Ontario, Ore. The $77-million sustainable facility will use corn, wheat, barley, and milo as feed stock to create food-grade fiber, starch, and protein concentrate for human food and aquaculture industries. Carbon dioxide will also be captured for the production of ethanol and commercial sales. Additionally, the wet-spent grain byproduct generated by the facility will be used as livestock feed.
HUD Plans East Baltimore Biotech Park
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is planning the East Baltimore Development, a new biotechnology park in Maryland. Located north of Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, the park will be the cornerstone of a new planned community as part the revitalization of East Baltimore. A $22-million loan will fund the development.
General Dynamics Relocates to Charlotte
General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products is relocating its headquarters and light manufacturing operations from Burlington, Vt. to Charlotte, N.C. The $30-million relocation project will create 405 jobs and will enable the company to be operational at the new site by fall of 2004. General Dynamics Armament, a unit of General Dynamics Corp., designs, develops, and manufactures aerospace and defense products.
USAMISSA To Occupy Fort Sam Houston Facility
The U.S. Army Medical Information Systems and Services Agency (USAMISSA) will occupy 75,000 sf in the North Beach Pavilion at Fort Sam Houston, one of three historic structures there under renovation. The lease is the first in the Fort Sam redevelopment project. USAMISSA is a provider of IT systems support to the Army Medical Department.
