State Farm Consolidates in Emeryville
State Farm Insurance is consolidating 66 California claims processing centers down to 20, closing centers in Pleasant Hill, Santa Rosa, Burlingame, San Francisco, Pacific, Marin and Richmond. State Farm will centralize operations in Emeryville, Calif., with the lease of an additional 16,000 sf in EmeryTech, bringing its occupancy in the development up to 60,000 sf through 2009.
GKN Aerospace Services Completes Headquarters
GKN Aerospace has completed its $5.7-million corporate headquarters in St. Louis. The $5.7-million phased demolition and renovation project entailed major demo work of 38,000-sf of a former manufacturing structure, creating executive offices, conference centers, new lobby areas and a new entrance. The facility was designed by Fox Architects of St. Louis and built by contractor McCarthy.
California Department of Health Services Project Nears Completion
The California Department of Health Services is nearing completion of its Richmond, Calif., complex. Construction manager McCarthy has guided the project's two phases, totaling more than 475,000-sf of offices, life sciences laboratories, animal facilities and warehousing space. The largest non-design-build project ever undertaken by the State of California, the $130-million project completes in January 2003 after a 4-year construction schedule.
Sentara Careplex Hospital Under Construction
Sentara Healthcare is nearing completion of its $61-million, 5-story replacement hospital. The facility will contain 200 beds (194 licensed) spread over 338,000 sf of new construction, and is one of the first in the nation to include a wireless phone and data backbone PACs along with an e-ICU and all "smart" operating rooms. Additional work included the relocation of the facility's central utility plant and renovation of the existing 32,000-sf outpatient clinic.
Spring Valley Hospital Under Construction In Las Vegas
Spring Valley Hospital is under construction in Las Vegas. The $45-million, 310,000-sf facility is being built by contractor McCarthy using a combination of pre-cast and cast-in-place concrete. Designed by architect HKS of Dallas, the 176-bed hospital features a one-story diagnostic and treatment center housing ambulatory surgery services, radiology, and surgical and emergency suites. The facility is slated for completion in fall 2003.
