Tulsa Heart Hospital of Saint Francis recently broke ground on its 141,000-sf facility in Tulsa, Okla. The project, a joint partnership of local physicians and Saint Francis Health System, is being managed by the Dallas-based Texas Division of contractor McCarthy. The three-story, 104-bed facility, providing both inpatient and outpatient care, will be equipped for diagnostic testing, cardiac angiography, coronary stents, peripheral angiography, open heart surgery, electrophysiology therapies and arrhythmia management.

KLA-Tencor Corp. of San Jose celebrated the opening of its new 120,000-sf Livermore facility in November 2002.   Consolidating twelve training sites, the training and customer support center has now been occupied by 200 employees. The facility houses 31 state-of-the-art classrooms. KLA-Tencor has completed construction of an additional manufacturing building on the site which will remain closed until market demand increases.

Columbia St. Mary's Hospital has selected Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (HOK) as lead architect for its new Lake Drive Campus hospital in Milwaukee. The project is a consolidation of the existing St. Mary's and Columbia campuses into a single new replacement facility to be constructed on a prominent site overlooking Lake Michigan.

Recovery Point Systems, a Gaithersburg-based disaster recovery and data storage company, is planning to build the nations largest "hot site." The 120,000-sf, $41.2-million facility will accommodate up to 1,000 workers as a backup office facility in the case of an emergency. Recovery Point Systems currently operates a 40,000-sf disaster recovery office in Gaithersburg that can house up to 200 workers.

BD Technologies is renovating its 100,000-sf Research Triangle Park facility to create an additional 14 laboratories and space for 35 more employees. The 30-year-old facility currently houses 40 laboratories for research in pharmaceutical drug delivery, advanced diagnostics and cellular science in engineering. BD Technologies, formerly the Becton Dickinson Research Center, provides 7,500 sf of incubator space for companies including Tranzyme, Synergy Vaccines, and SyneCor.
