Incyte Genomics Seeks East Coast Facility
Incyte Genomics Inc., based in Palo Alto, Calif., will move into 53,100 sf at DuPont’s Stine-Haskell Research Center in Newark while the biotech company searches for a permanent East Coast facility for its therapeutic discovery and development work. Incyte hopes to secure approximately 90,000 sf of research, lab, and office space to accommodate 140 R&D staff in the next two years, and a total of 200 employees by 2005. Biotech and pharmaceutical companies, as well as research and academic institutions, use Incyte’s genomics technologies and products.
Amgen Considers RTP Location for R&D Project
Amgen, based in Thousand Oaks, Calif., is considering locations in Research Triangle Park for a new $500-million, 250,000-sf facility. The project would include at least 250,000 sf for biological manufacturing, clinical, and development operations. The biotech company is expanding at its other locations as well. A 92,000-sf research center opened in Cambridge, Mass., late last year; two drug R&D buildings and a parking garage are being added in Thousand Oaks; and the company plans to expand manufacturing at its 232-acre site in Longmont, Colo.
Lockheed-Martin To Occupy New Mount Laurel Offices
Lockheed-Martin plans to occupy at least two buildings at a new four-building office park under construction in Mount Laurel. The developer of the 400,000-sf complex is Whitesell Construction Co. Inc. of Delran, Penn.
Drexel University Expands With Business Learning Center
Drexel University’s Bennett S. LeBow College of Business is expanding with the new Leonard Pearlstein Business Learning Center, now under construction. When it opens in fall of 2002, the $15-million structure will connect to LeBow’s main building, and will accommodate seminar rooms designed like boardrooms, offices, computer labs, and study rooms. Architect for the project is Philip Johnson.
Temple University Occupies State-of-the-Art Philadelphia Building
Temple University City Center has relocated to a new six-story, 126,866-sf, state-of-the-art building in the center of downtown Philadelphia’s business district, a public transportation-friendly location. The $11.1-million structure, approximately 35,000 sf larger than the previous facility, is equipped with “smart carts” for overhead presentations, lounges on every floor, and views from every classroom. Temple’s Fox School of Business, the Real Estate Institute, and a new criminal justice institute will all be located at the new campus.
