Cisco Plans Boxborough, Littleton Expansion
California-based tech giant Cisco Systems has planned 13 buildings in Boxborough and Littleton totalling 1.5 million sf and is seeking approval to develop 500,000 sf in three additional buildings for a total of 2 million sf. At the Boxborough office campus, the network switching and routing company's "second home" in Massachusetts, only a small portion of the currently unoccupied 10-building campus has been built.
Point Loma Nazarene Renovation Completed
Renovations to a 48,000-sf building have been completed at Point Loma Nazarene University's Mission Valley campus.
Lipomed To Occupy New Headuarters
LipoMed will consolidate its three Raleigh locations in a new headquarters for the biotech company at the Parker Business Center, where Phase I construction is complete. A nearby 40,000-sf shell building has been fitted-up and is ready for move-in. An adjacent 33,000-sf shell building will be upfitted, and a 12,000-sf connector built in Phase II of the project. LipoMed performs diagnostic testing of lipoproteins to determine heart disease risks.
Perkin Elmer Develops Billerica Manufacturing Facility
PerkinElmer Life Sciences, based in Boston, has a new 3,800-sf manufacturing building under construction in Billerica. The renovated space will accommodate 10-12 employees. The plant will produce Yttrium 90 for use in radiotherapeutic cancer treatment. It is anticipated that the facility will be operational in early 2002.
Abbott Labs Proposes Redwood City Expansion
Abbott Labs has proposed a 1,000,000-sf expanison in Redwood City, providing manufacturing and R&D facilities for the Chicago-based bioscience company's cardiac products. Maximizing the company's proximity to the world-class cardiac clinics at Sequoia Hospital and Stanford Hospital, Abbot purchased the Redwood City-based Perclose biotech in 1999. Abbott plans to spend up to $350 million on the new complex. Ground may be broken on the three-phase project by the end of 2002.
