Sybase Inc., based in Emeryville, Calif., is considering the construction of a new corporate campus in Dublin for its 1,200 local employees. Two six-story buildings with a total of 420,000 sf would be built by Wilcox Development Services of Dallas on a 14.5-acre site at the Emerald Glen development. If approval from the city of Dublin is secured, construction could begin by the end of 2000. Estimates put the price tag at $50 to $60 million, excluding land costs.

Aetna U.S. Healthcare, based in Hartford, Conn., is building a $36 million, 180,000-sf regional headquarters in Landover to house 880 employees it will relocate from its Linthicum and Falls Church offices. The Capitol region's customer service functions and medical management will be accommodated in the new facility which is scheduled for completion in summer 2000.

Nortel Networks has finished renovating its 76,000-sf office and R&D facility in Andover. The $1.7 million project was carried out by Spaulding & Slye Colliers of Boston.

The New England Aquarium has selected TAMS Consultants, Inc. in a joint venture with EHDD Architecture, to design its new 90,000-sf East Wing expansion. Major new permanent exhibits, food courts and gift shops will be accommodated in the new wing, which will more than double the size of the facility. Completion is scheduled for 2004.

Fox Chase Cancer Center has plans for two new centralized scientific facilities to study genomics and bioinformatics. Grants from the Pew Charitable Trusts of Philadelphia and the Rippel Foundation of New Jersey will help to fund the projects.
