X Corp Solutions Opens Quantico Cyber Hub
Defense contractor X Corp Solutions opened the $10 million Quantico Cyber Hub in September of 2019 in Stafford, Va. The three-story, 30,000-sf facility provides state-of-the-art classrooms for cybersecurity education and training programs. The building also accommodates a certified national testing center, workshops, a cyber café, collaboration areas, administrative offices, and innovation space for the American Cyber League.
University of Warwick Plans Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building
The University of Warwick is planning to build the £54.3 million Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building in Coventry in the United Kingdom. Designed by Hawkins\Brown, the 75,000-sf facility will include flexible open labs for up to 300 researchers, a 400-seat lecture hall, a café, a large public entrance, and exhibition space. The five-story building will offer a central ‘lab village’ core, with offices and collaboration zones located on the perimeter to activate the façade.
Lafayette College Opens Rockwell Integrated Science Center
Lafayette College opened the $75 million Rockwell Integrated Sciences Center in August of 2019 in Easton, Pa. Designed by Payette to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, the 103,000-sf facility houses the departments of biology, computer science, and environmental studies and science, as well as accommodating programs in neuroscience and engineering.
Pfizer Constructs Sanford Gene Therapy Facility
Pfizer is initiating a $500 million expansion of its Sanford campus with the construction of a 100,000-sf gene therapy facility. Supporting the creation of innovative treatments for genetic diseases, the project will feature advance manufacturing technologies for clinical and commercial-scale production of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors. Accommodating 300 new employees, the facility will complement operations at the existing 628,000-sf Sanford complex and at the company's Chapel Hill and Kit Creek locations.
Towson University Designs College of Health Professions
Towson University is planning to construct a $166 million facility for the College of Health Professions in Towson, Md. Collocating the college's undergraduate and graduate departments in a single integrated structure, the 229,000-sf facility will accommodate programs in nursing, health sciences, occupational therapy, occupational science, speech-language pathology, and audiology. The collaborative project is being designed by Perkins+Will and JMT Architecture.
