Zayed University Opens Khalifa City Campus
Zayed University opened its new Khalifa City Campus in Abu Dhabi in September of 2011. Sited on 80 hectares, the academic and research campus includes 28 buildings, a sports complex, a convention center, and residential facilities. The $817 million project was developed in partnership with Mubadala Development Council and Abu Dhabi Education Council. Construction began on the campus in 2009.
Terrebonne Medical Center Opens Cancer Facility
Terrebonne General Medical Center will open the $14.8 million Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Care Center in September of 2011. Located in Houma, La., the three-story, 49,000-sf comprehensive cancer facility will provide surgery, oncology, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, inpatient care, and space for clinical research trials. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which features energy efficient building systems and enhanced indoor air quality. The center was built by McDonnel Group of Metairie.
Pasteur Hospital 2 Under Construction in Nice
The $500 million Pasteur Hospital 2 is under construction in Nice, France. The 871,876-sf academic medical center will provide 730 beds in primarily private rooms. The hospital will include a cardiovascular center, a neuroscience clinic, a urology unit, research space, and a medical school. The first phase will open in mid-2013 with full occupancy expected in March of 2014.
Cabot Microelectronics Opens South Korea R&D Facility
Cabot Microelectronics opened its 56,000-sf R&D facility in September of 2011 in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Located near Seoul, the $13 million project will support research, development, and production of advanced dielectric and CMP slurry products. Cabot Microelectronics is headquartered in Aurora, Ill.
Torrance Memorial Medical Center Builds Replacement Tower
Torrance Memorial Medical Center is building a $300 million replacement tower in Torrance, Calif. Construction began on the facility in February of 2010 with completion expected in November of 2014. The project team includes HMC Architects and McCarthy Building Companies.
