SUNY Fredonia Breaks Ground on Science Center

SUNY Fredonia broke ground on its $60 million Science Center in September of 2011. The 92,000-sf building will house the departments of biology and chemistry/biochemistry, as well as programs in environmental science and education. The facility will feature flexible and informal teaching spaces as well as faculty offices, labs, and classrooms. Occupancy is expected in 2014.

University of Guelph Builds Veterinary Research Center

The University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College is building an animal cancer research and treatment facility. The $15 million project will house a linear accelerator for advanced radiation therapy. The 12,000-sf center will include an animal hospital with surgical suites as well as research laboratories. Occupancy is expected in late fall of 2011.

Brown University Completes Cognitive, Linguistics and Psychological Sciences Building

Brown University completed the Cognitive, Linguistics, and Psychological Sciences Building in September of 2011. The facility was created by a $42 million renovation of the existing Metcalf Chemistry and Research Laboratory. Ground was broken on the project in June of 2010. The facility features modern laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices, an auditorium, and a teaching studio. The building will open for classes in early 2012.

St. Francis Hospital Initiates Expansion

St. Francis Hospital will break ground in October of 2011 on a $110 million expansion in Columbus, Ga. The project includes a four-story, 189,131-sf clinical services building and a four-story, 169,000-sf medical office building. The expansion will provide a total of 230 private rooms, a women's health center, and seven operating rooms. The general contractor is Skanska USA Building. Completion is expected in early 2013.
