McMaster University Plans Wilson Building for Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences
McMaster University is planning to begin construction in 2013 on the $60 million Wilson Building for Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences in Hamilton, Ontario. The 104,000-sf facility will provide multidisciplinary teaching and research space for a wide variety of programs.
Stanford University Plans Satellite Research Animal Facility
Stanford University is planning to construct the $27.5 million Satellite Research Animal Facility in Palo Alto, Calif. The single-story, prefabricated building is slated for completion in December of 2012. The facility will eventually be replaced by a permanent structure. Additionally, Stanford University is planning to build the $41.2 million, 22,100-sf Research Computing facility. Construction will begin on the two-story project in early 2012 with completion expected in 2013.
Construction Begins on Temecula Valley Hospital
Ground was broken on the new Temecula Valley Hospital in June of 2011. The five-story, 178,000-sf acute care facility is being developed by Universal Health Services Design and Construction. The project team includes HMC Architects, DPR Construction, and Turner Construction Company. The 140-bed facility will feature entirely private rooms, a flexible emergency department, a 20-bed ICU, six surgical suites, and advanced imaging technologies.
Roche Attains LEED Gold for Renovation Project
Roche has attained LEED Gold sustainable design certification for the renovation of Building 76 in Nutley, N.J. The project included refurbishment of 159,000 sf on nine floors. The completed Building 76 features daylight harvesting, chilled beams, occupancy sensors, and an advanced HVAC system. Construction began in September of 2009. The project team included design architect HDR, Sordoni Construction, and Dauo Engineers.
Christopher Newport University Breaks Ground on Teaching and Research Facility
Christopher Newport University will break ground in July of 2011 on the $54.6 million Joseph W. Luter III Building in Newport News, Va. The 135,622-sf facility will provide advanced teaching and research labs, faculty offices, and classrooms for seven departments. The project will also house the Luter School of Business.
