Appalachian State University Completes College of Education

Appalachian State University will open the $35 million College of Education Building in August of 2011. The five-story, 124,547-sf facility will provide 121 faculty offices, 17 classrooms, 12 conference/seminar rooms, administrative suites, and laboratories for design, media production, and computer science. The building will also house student computer labs, a counseling training clinic, and a reading clinic with tutoring and diagnostic rooms. LEED sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which features solar water heating and a green roof.

BioStorage Technologies Opens Indianapolis Facility

BioStorage Technologies opened a 60,000-sf biorepository in Indianapolis in May of 2011. The $4.6 million facility will support the preparation, storage, and transport of human biological samples. The biorepository features automated liquid handling technology for high-throughput DNA and RNA extraction and verification.

New York University Plans College of Nursing

New York University is planning to build a 170,000-sf facility for the College of Nursing in New York City. Designed by EYP Architecture & Engineering and KPF, the $140 million project is expected to reach completion in fall of 2013.

Albany Medical Center Breaks Ground on Expansion

Albany Medical Center officially broke ground on a $360 million expansion in May of 2011. The six-story patient tower will provide an additional 83 beds in private rooms, 20 new operating rooms, and an intensive care unit.
