Royal Roads University Completes Learning and Innovation Building
Royal Roads University will complete the $20 million Learning and Innovation Building in March of 2011. Located on Vancouver Island in Victoria, B.C., the facility houses classrooms, offices, a social science lab, a 100-seat videoconferencing lecture hall, and the Centre for Dialogue. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the project.
Manchester Royal Eye Hospital Becomes Medical Research Center
The Manchester Royal Eye Hospital will be expanded and renovated to become a medical research center. Designed by Sheppard Robson, the $34.3 million, 100,000-sf project will include construction of a five-story extension as well as a complete renovation of the existing structure. Completion is expected in 2012.
Life Technologies Launches Asia Distribution Center
US-based Life Technologies Corporation, a provider of innovative life science solutions, launched a regional distribution hub in Singapore in February of 2011 to address strong customer demand in the Asia Pacific region. Located in the Tuas Biomedical Park, the Asia Distribution Center will boost the quality, availability, and timely delivery of Life Technologies' products. Life Technologies provides customers with systems, consumables, and services that enable researchers to accelerate scientific and medical advancements.
Claremont McKenna College's Kravis Center Nears Completion
Claremont McKenna College will open the Kravis Center in July of 2011. Located in Claremont, Calif., the five-story, 162,000-sf facility will house classrooms, seminar rooms, faculty and administrative offices, and a lecture hall. The Kravis Center will also house IT servers and a chilled loop system providing cooling for the entire west end of campus. The project was designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects and built by Bernards Construction. LEED Gold certification will be sought for the facility.
SANY America Completes Georgia Assembly Facility
SANY America completed construction in February of 2011 on its $60 million assembly facility in Peachtree City, Ga. Ground was broken on the 420,000-sf building in early 2010. The facility will support R&D, sales, service, and distribution operations as well as providing assembly and production space. SANY America is a subsidiary of SANY Group Co. Ltd., a concrete machinery manufacturer based in Hunan Province, China.
