Michigan State University Breaks Ground on Nursing Research Addition
Michigan State University broke ground in September of 2010 on the $17.6 million Bott Building for Nursing Education and Research in East Lansing. Supported by $7.45 million in federal stimulus funding, the three-story addition will provide 20,906 gsf of research space, teaching labs, classrooms, and faculty offices. The 50,000-sf project will enable several College of Nursing facilities to be consolidated in a centralized location. Completion is expected in late 2011.
Moorpark College Dedicates Academic Center and Builds Exotic Animal Facility
Moorpark College dedicated its 47,000-sf Academic Center in September of 2010. Located in Moorpark, Calif., the three-story, 47,000-sf facility house 33 technology-rich classrooms, faculty offices, and conference rooms. Additionally, Moorpark College’s new health sciences building will open in January of 2011, and the $12.7 million, 13,000-sf Exotic Animal Training and Management Program (EATM) facility is slated for completion in April of 2011.
BuildingIQ Announces Predictive Energy Optimization Pilot Project with Argonne National Lab
BuildingIQ, an energy management software company, has announced its first Predictive Energy Optimization pilot project in the United States at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory.
UMass Medical School Opens Ambulatory Care Center
The University of Massachusetts Medical School opened the 258,000-sf Ambulatory Care Center in Worcester in September of 2010. Designed by Payette, the nine-story project provides integrated facilities for patient care, clinical research, and medical education. The building is located at UMass Memorial Medical Center and features energy-efficient HVAC systems, abundant natural light, and occupancy sensors.
U.S. Geological Survey Breaks Ground on Columbia Expansion
The U.S. Geological Survey broke ground on a $10.7 million expansion and renovation of its Columbia Environmental Research Center in September of 2010. Supported by funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the 23,800-sf project includes construction of additional lab and office space and renovation of existing aquatic research facilities. Completion is expected by September of 2011.
