University of Missouri Health Care Builds Cancer Treatment Center
University of Missouri Health Care began construction in September of 2010 on a $210 million facility in Columbia. The eight-story, 300,000-sf addition will provide 90 private patient rooms and 12 surgical suites. The Ellis Fischel Cancer Center will occupy two floors in the building. Completion is expected in late 2012.
Iowa State University Dedicates Biorenewables Research Lab
Iowa State University dedicated the $32 million Biorenewables Research Laboratory in Ames in September of 2010. Designed to promote interaction and collaboration, the interdisciplinary research facility houses labs and offices for the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Biorenewable Chemicals, the Bioeconomy Institute, and the Biobased Industry Center. RFD (Research Facilities Design) was the laboratory design consultant for the project.
University of Wyoming Dedicates College of Business
The University of Wyoming dedicated its expanded and renovated College of Business in Laramie in September of 2010. The project included a complete renovation of the existing 53,000-sf facility and 112,000 sf of new construction. The technology-rich building houses a networked trading room, classrooms, multimedia and behavioral labs, a boardroom, seminar rooms, and an auditorium. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for project.
Pennsylvania State University Breaks Ground on Biobehavioral Health Building
Pennsylvania State University broke ground in September of 2010 on the $48.1 million Biobehavioral Health Building in University Park, Pa. Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, 93,500-sf facility will provide teaching and research space for the College of Health and Human Development. Construction will begin on the four-story facility in October of 2010 with occupancy expected in November of 2012. The construction manager for the project is Massaro. LEED sustainable design certification will be sought for the project.
University of New Mexico Plans Rio Rancho Teaching Hospital
The University of New Mexico is planning to build the $193 million Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho. The 200,000-sf teaching hospital will include a Level III/IV emergency and trauma center, general surgery, oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, behavioral health, and 68 inpatient beds. A 40,000-sf medical office building will also be constructed.
