Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine will construct new stem cell laboratories on its New York campus. Supported by $10 million in federal stimulus funding from the National Institutes of Health, the project will provide labs for the Ruth L. and David S. Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research. Existing laboratory space will also be renovated.

TRIRIGA, a leading provider of integrated workplace management solutions, announced in April of 2010 that New York City will deploy TREES, TRIRIGA’s environmental sustainability software, to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption at over 4,000 government buildings. TREES will enable NYC to measure its carbon output on a building-by-building basis while supplementing its efforts to conserve energy. TREES streamlines carbon accounting and environmental investment analysis to provide carbon intelligence and achieve energy reduction strategies.

General Motors began construction in April of 2010 on an $8 million expansion of the Global Battery Systems Lab in Warren, Mich. The project will add 30,000-sf to the existing 33,000-sf facility. Completion is expected in summer of 2010.

The University of Arkansas dedicated the 34,000-sf Rice Research and Extension Center (RREC) in Stuttgart in April of 2010. The $12.4 million facility houses research labs, offices, and an auditorium for the university’s Division of Agriculture. The RREC features advanced laboratories for plant genetics, molecular biology, and biofuels research. The project architect was Witsell, Evans and Rasco with May Construction Company as general contractor.

Children’s Hospital Boston selected Payette in April of 2010 to design the 106,000-sf Binney Building. The ten-story urban infill project will be built as an addition to the main hospital. The facility will house much-needed expansion space for the emergency department, radiology, same-day surgery, neurology, pharmacy, and four floors of new inpatient beds.
