Swinburne University Partners With Suntech on Advanced Solar Facility
Swinburne University of Technology is partnering with Suntech Power Holdings to create the Victoria-Suntech Advanced Solar Facility (VSASF) in Melbourne. The project will support the commercialization of nanoplasmonic solar cell technology.
GlobalFoundries Expands Fab 8
GlobalFoundries will begin construction in June of 2010 on a 90,000-sf expansion of Chip Fab 8. Providing additional cleanroom space, the $75 million project represents an expansion of GlobalFoundries' semiconductor manufacturing center currently under construction at the Luther Forest Technology Campus in Malta, N.Y. Completion is expected in mid-2012. The project will bring the total cleanroom footprint at the Malta fab to 300,000 sf.
Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies Builds Center for Preclinical Studies
The Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies is planning to construct the R1.6 billion Russia Preclinical Nanotoxicology Research Center in Dubna. Offering GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) pharmaceutical testing services, the 10,000-sm facility will support collaborative research with Moscow State University and The Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI) of New Mexico. The project architect is HDR.

Mayo Health System Builds Immanuel St. Joseph's Emergency Department
Mayo Health System will break ground in July of 2010 on a new $29 million emergency department at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato, Minn. Completion is expected in summer of 2011. The facility will feature private patient rooms.
