Clairvoyant Energy and Xtreme Power Initiate Wixom Renovation
A former Ford assembly plant will be renovated by Clairvoyant Energy of Santa Barbara, Calif., to house production facilities for high-efficiency solar panels. The renovation is part of a $1.2 billion project to transform the 320-acre site into the nation’s largest renewable energy business park. Xtreme Power of Austin, Texas, will renovate over 1 million sf at the Wixom campus to create manufacturing space for turnkey power systems. The creation of the renewable energy park is supported by state and federal funding.
CentraState Healthcare Breaks Ground on Proton Therapy Facility
CentraState Healthcare System is partnering with ProCure Treatment Centers and Princeton Radiation Oncology to build a $160 million proton therapy cancer center in Somerset, N.J. The 60,000-sf facility will house four treatment rooms. A formal groundbreaking is scheduled for April of 2010 with occupancy slated for March of 2012.
University of Southern Mississippi Dedicates Trent Lott National Center
The University of Southern Mississippi dedicated the 53,000-sf Trent Lott National Center for Excellence in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship in Hattiesburg in March of 2010. The three-story building was designed by Albert and Associates and built by Finlo Construction. Providing classrooms, conference rooms, and administrative offices, the facility houses the Department of Economic and Workforce Development, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security, and the Center for Logistics, Trade, and Transportation.
Augustana College Plans Gilbert Science Center Renovation
Augustana College is planning an expansion and renovation of Gilbert Science Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The two-phase project includes construction of a $30 million addition housing teaching and research labs and a nursing education wing. The second phase consists of a $30 million renovation to create classrooms and faculty offices. LEED sustainable design certification will be sought for the project.
University Hospitals Case Medical Center Builds Cancer Facility
University Hospitals Case Medical Center is building the 375,000-sf Cancer Hospital in Cleveland. Ground was broken for the $250 million project in August of 2007 with occupancy expected in spring of 2011. The free-standing facility will consolidate cancer services (including diagnosis, treatment, surgery, oncology care, and radiation therapy) in a single location. The Cancer Hospital will provide 120 inpatient beds.
