Howard University and Adventist HealthCare Plan Academic Teaching Hospital

Howard University is partnering with Adventist HealthCare to create a $450 million academic teaching hospital in Washington, D.C. Featuring a Level I trauma center, the 600,000-sf, 225-bed complex will offer state-of-the-art facilities for patient care and medical education. York University Plans Neuroscience Laboratory and Research Building

York University will begin construction in mid-2022 on the 53,420-sf Neuroscience Laboratory and Research Building in Toronto. Designed by HDR, the two-story facility will provide sophisticated wet labs, research offices, and labs for neuropsychology and kinesiology. Located on the Keele Campus, the project will be physically connected to the existing Sherman Health Science Research Centre by a lower-level corridor.

University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf Plans Center for Translational Immunology

University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf is planning to build a 193,000-sf translational medicine hub in Hamburg, Germany. Housing the Campus Research II facility and the Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology, the interdisciplinary complex will provide 150 labs for the study of inflammation, infection, and immunology. Blinn College Expands RELLIS Campus

Blinn College is planning to construct a $32 million academic facility on the RELLIS Campus in Brenham, Texas. Designed by Gensler, the Phase II Building will provide classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, and labs for programs in engineering and computer science. The three-story, 75,000-sf structure will also offer gathering and interaction areas, a student services center, a food vending court, and a large meeting room. Construction is slated to begin in February of 2021 with occupancy in fall of 2022.

California Health Sciences University Opens College of Osteopathic Medicine

California Health Sciences University opened the 90,000-sf College of Osteopathic Medicine in July of 2020. Located in Clovis, the three-story building supports the school's innovative active-learning curriculum with three large technology-enabled classrooms that can accommodate small group learning as well as lecture-based instruction. The facility also provides collaborative and individual study spaces, an osteopathic skills lab, and a student lounge with a teaching and demonstration kitchen.

UC Davis Health Breaks Ground on Tschannen Eye Institute

UC Davis Health, the academic medical center of the University of California, Davis, broke ground in late June of 2020 on the Ernest T. Tschannen Eye Institute. Located on the Sacramento campus, the 58,000-sf building will provide exceptional facilities for research, education, and patient care. The project, which is being constructed as an addition to the Ellison Ambulatory Care Center, includes the renovation of 17,500 sf of clinical space on the first floor of the existing structure. The 746-bed development will accommodate three distinct residential communities, with private study spaces, gathering areas, and kitchen facilities in each cluster. Designed by Cooper Carry to provide students with immersive learning experiences in hospitality management and culinary sciences, the 142,000-sf complex will feature food production and demonstration labs, a teaching restaurant, a brewing science center, and a luxury boutique hotel. The structure will also accommodate classrooms, instructional labs, collaboration spaces, a food hall, a café, a spa, and a rooftop garden.
