Northwestern Designs Biomedical Research Facility

Published 1/17/2014
Northwestern University has selected Perkins+Will to design a $1 billion biomedical research facility in Chicago. Located on the former site of the Prentice Women’s Hospital, the collaborative 1.2 million-sf project will connect to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center on multiple levels. The facility will be developed in phases with construction beginning in 2015 on the $370 million base building providing between 300,000 sf and 500,000 sf of advanced translational research space as well as an interaction atrium and a lecture hall.  A second construction phase will create a tower expansion by early 2019. Renovations to 250,000 sf of existing lab space will also be completed.
