Washington State University Vancouver is constructing the $66.5 million Life Sciences Building to provide sophisticated teaching labs and classrooms for programs in biology chemistry. Designed by SRG Partnership, the three-story, 60,000-sf facility will also include a dedicated vivarium to support federally funded research programs as well as specialized learning venues for courses in nursing, psychology, neuroscience, molecular biology, and medicine. The welcoming and inclusive structure will offer universally accessible environments that will be open to the entire campus community. Incorporating movable furniture and flexible lab infrastructure, the highly adaptable project will include a diversity of space types ranging from quiet study zones to public gathering areas. Occupant health and wellbeing will be enhanced by the incorporation of nontoxic building materials and access to natural light and views. Andersen Construction broke ground on the facility in November of 2021 and occupancy is expected in spring of 2024.
