HITT Contracting will relocate its headquarters to a planned 270,000-sf development in Falls Church, Va. Designed by Gensler, the six-story facility will advance the firm's aspiration to redefine the future of construction through innovation, partnership, and sustainability. The project involves the transformation of an existing office structure, previously a satellite campus operated by Virginia Tech, into a collaborative educational hub for the built environment. Occupying 40,000 sf on the ground floor, Virginia Tech’s Coalition for Smart Construction will leverage HITT’s expertise to equip the next generation of industry professionals with new competencies. Together, HITT and Virginia Tech envision a nationally recognized center of excellence that will drive groundbreaking research and accelerate the evolution of building practices.

Accommodating 900 employees, HITT’s headquarters will include a full-service conference venue and café on the ground floor, with an interconnecting stair leading to meeting spaces, wellness amenities, and access to the roof deck on the second story. Four additional office levels will feature environments that celebrate neurodiversity by supporting a variety of work styles. HITT's dedicated R&D team will carry out more than 20 research initiatives in this living laboratory, in fields spanning advanced materials, robotics, 3D printing, and technology-enabled workflows. The net-zero-ready facility will utilize a 100,000-sf photovoltaic canopy to generate all needed energy. Completion is expected in late 2026.

Developed by Rushmark Properties, the project is part of Converge West Falls, a mixed-use district spanning 7.5 acres that is being delivered as part of a greater partnership with Virginia Tech. The campus will include more than 55,000 sf of urban parkland, a 440-unit multifamily apartment building, commercial and retail premises, and a 1,400-sf digital experience pavilion that will function as a community gathering spot.
