Tulane National Primate Research Center Expands Breeding Facilities
The Tulane National Primate Research Center has received two grants of $4 million each from the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health for new construction and expansion of its current breeding facility in Covington, La. The first grant will fund construction of a facility that will house monkeys assigned to a variety of research studies and nursery facilities for infant monkeys.
Montreal Heart Institute Expands Research Centre
The Montreal Heart Institute is initiating a $24-million project to expand and renovate its Research Centre in Montreal, Canada. Slated for completion in 2008, the project will expand the south block, known as the Pavillon Jean-Louis Levesque, by 6,125 square meters on three floors. A catheterization and research space will be built, and the first three floors of the south block will be reorganized.
City of Denver Plans $378-Million Justice Center
The City of Denver is planning to construct a new $378-million Justice Center. The master plan for the facility, designed by David Owen Tryba Architects of Denver, includes a 320,428-sf courthouse with 35 criminal courtrooms; a 430,494-sf detention center holding 1,500 inmates; two arraignment courts; and 684-car parking garage plus 204 additional staff parking spaces.
University of Connecticut Dedicates Pharmacy/Biology Building
The University of Connecticut dedicated its new 226,000-sf Pharmacy/Biology Building on October 21, 2005. The 226,000-sf facility was constructed with a cold room on every floor and houses laboratory and office space for the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology. The School of Pharmacy is also located in the building in a wing featuring classrooms, labs, offices, conference rooms, and a library.
Roche Molecular Systems To Break Ground on Pleasanton Research Facility
Roche Molecular Systems will break ground on a 138,000-sf research facility in Pleasanton, Calif., in early 2006. Sited on 33 acres, the three-story building will accommodate 150 employees engaged in marketing, financial, and R&D operations when it reaches completion in mid-2007.
