Spectrum Astro Opens Satellite Manufacturing and Test Facility

Spectrum Astro, a designer and manufacturer of space mission satellites, has opened a new center in Gilbert, Ariz. Sited on 80 acres near Spectrum Astro’s corporate headquarters, the 135,000-sf factory accommodates assembly, integration, and test space. The facility can produce more than 20 satellites simultaneously. The facility features multiple cleanroom integration and test areas, including a 14,400-sf assembly bay.

Boston Scientific Plans Maple Grove Expansion

Boston Scientific Corp., based in Natick, Mass., will expand its Maple Grove, Minn. campus with the construction of a 120,000-sf office and research lab facility. Boston Scientific plans to begin manufacturing drug-coated stents in the first half of 2004.

Harrisburg University Creates Campus Master Plan

Harrisburg University worked with architects Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associates to create the master plan for an 18-acre campus in downtown Harrisburg, Pa. Construction will begin on the first administrative building in May 2006. Student housing and a business incubator will be developed in 2007. Residential buildings with retail space will be constructed in 2009, as will the remaining research area. Construction of more educational space, student housing, a 300-car and 800-car parking garage, and a corporate center will follow.

Bryn Mawr Hospital Opens Comprehensive Breast Center

Bryn Mawr Hospital opened its $7.5 million “Comprehensive Breast Center” on the first floor of the Founder’s Bank Building in Philadelphia in early February. Including renovation of the cancer center and the imaging center, the project features state-of-the-art digital mammography, MRI, and ultrasound devices. The facility will also provide treatment consultations, osteoporosis testing, risk assessment, and prevention programs.
