GSA Plans Headquarters Renovation
The General Services Administration is planning the 710,000-sf renovation of its Washington, D.C., headquarters. Designed and engineered by Shalom Baranes, Studios and Syska Hennessy Group, the project is estimated to cost between $110 million and $130 million. The design process will reach completion by February 2005 with occupancy expected in the first quarter of 2009.
Department of Health and Human Services Occupies Rockville Facility
The Department of Health and Human Services has leased 30,000-sf of office space in the 10-story, 276,000-sf Tower Building in Rockville, Md.
Kellogg USA Builds Tracy Distribution Center
Kellogg USA is developing a 750,000-sf distribution center in the Tracy Logistics Center in Tracy, Calif. Sited on 35 acres, the concrete tilt-up project will include 8,000 sf of office and is slated for completion in April. The project contractor is Oltmans Construction Co. of Whittier, Calif. The 150-acre Tracy Logistics Center was built by developer Pattillo Properties of Atlanta.
Adobe Systems Occupies Third San Jose Tower
Adobe has begun to occupy the $117-million Adobe Systems Tower, its third facility in San Jose, Calif. Designed by Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum of San Francisco, Adobe’s $200-million, three-building urban campus totals nearly 1 million-sf of office space.
O'Connor Hospital Expands San Jose Emergency Department
O’Connor Hospital broke ground on a new $10 million emergency department in San Jose, Calif., in December 2003. Increasing bed count from 11 to 21, the facility will accommodate a trauma room, two emergency gynecology rooms, and six chest-pain rooms with special monitoring equipment. Turner Construction is the project contractor. The new emergency department will be relocated to the front of the hospital to increase visibility. The hospital is also planning to construct a $2 million endovascular suite.
