Pfizer Animal Health Opens Equine Research Center
Pfizer Animal Health opened the $7 million Equine Research Center in November of 2011 in Richland, Mich. The facility provides 24,000 sf of laboratory space for the research and development of equine vaccines and therapeutics. The center will house multidisciplinary research teams and includes paddocks and pastures for equine housing.
Sentara Leigh Hospital Renovates Norfolk Facility
Sentara Leigh Hospital will initiate a $126 million renovation of its hospital campus in Norfolk, Va., in December of 2011. The project includes construction of two five-story patient towers. The completed 517,000-sf facility will house 250 beds, including a 48-bed orthopedic and rehabilitation center. Completion is expected in January of 2016.
University of Minnesota Expands Wind Energy Research Station
The University of Minnesota has installed a new wind turbine at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory in Minneapolis. The 2.5 megawatt Clipper Liberty wind turbine will support teaching, research, and training for the sustainable energy industry. The turbine was funded by an award of $7.9 million in federal stimulus funding.
University of Strathclyde Opens Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences
The University of Strathclyde opened the $58 million Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences in November of 2011 in Glasgow. The 86,111-sf facility was designed by Sheppard Robson to accommodate interdisciplinary research and development of advanced therapeutics. The six-story project houses a 160-seat teaching lab, research labs, a cleanroom, and the departments of physiology, bioscience, immunology, pharmaceutical sciences, and pharmacology.
Scripps Implements e-Builder
Scripps has selected e-Builder Enterprise software to standardize construction administration processes across its ongoing capital program. e-Builder will provide the Scripps Facility Design & Construction (FD&C) group with an integrated system to manage cost tracking, document tracking, bidding, contract approval, invoice approval, RFIs, PCOs, and change orders with e-Builder’s workflow automation platform.
