Saint Peter's College Plans Student Center

Saint Peter's College is planning to construct a $62 million student center in Jersey City, N.J. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the six-story, 90,000-sf facility. The building will feature energy and water efficient systems, a green roof, and elevators that use recycled energy. The center will support dining, learning, fitness, and social interaction.

Philadelphia University Breaks Ground on Academic Facility

Philadelphia University will break ground in June of 2011 on a $20 million academic facility on its East Falls Campus in Philadelphia. The 38,500-sf building was designed by Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott to house the College of Design, Engineering and Commerce. Featuring collaborative design studios, research space, classrooms, workshops, a computer design lab, and a prototype fabrication shop, the facility will be built with removable walls for maximum flexibility. Completion is expected by fall of 2013.

Purdue University Plans Seng-Liang Wang Hall

Purdue University is planning to construct the 147,000-sf Seng-Liang Wang Hall in West Lafayette, Ind. Housing laboratories and classrooms for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the four-story mixed-use development will include academic, research, and retail space. Completion is expected in spring of 2013.

Providence Regional Medical Center Opens in Everett

The $460 million Providence Regional Medical Center Everett will open in June of 2011. The 12-story, 680,000-sf hospital will support patient and family centered care with 368 beds, a 67,460-sf emergency department, and a digital imaging center. The 240-bed tower features primarily private rooms. General contractor M.A. Mortenson broke ground on the facility on September 27, 2008.

USDA Breaks Ground on Insect Nursery

The U.S. Department of Agriculture broke ground on an insect nursery in May of 2011 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Located at the Agricultural Research Service's Invasive Plant Research Laboratory, the $16.7 million annex will be used to breed insects used as biocontrols for invasive plant species. Construction will begin in July of 2011 with completion expected in September of 2012.
