Scott & White Healthcare Plans Acute Care Hospital
Scott & White Healthcare will begin construction in early 2011 on a five-story acute care hospital. The 320,000-sf Scott & White Hospital-College Station will house 143 beds, an emergency department, a cardiovascular center, a neonatal ICU, surgical suites, maternity care, and imaging facilities. An adjacent 75,000-sf ambulatory clinic will also be built at the site. Completion is expected in summer of 2013.
Tucson Medical Center Plans Renovation
Tucson Medical Center is planning an $80 million expansion and renovation project. A new east entrance will be constructed and the pediatric, obstetric, and surgery facilities will be expanded and renovated. The project manager is Hill International.
Effingham Hospital Breaks Ground on Expansion
Effingham Hospital broke ground on a $30 million expansion project in January of 2010. The 58,000-sf addition is being built by Savannah-based firms R.J. Griffin and Rives E. Worrell. Completion is expected in 2012. Effingham Hospital is located in Springfield, Ga.
Indiana University South Bend Renovates Biology Labs
Indiana University South Bend will renovate existing research space in Northside Hall to create the Integrative Biology Research Facility. The $773,000 project will provide a greenhouse and labs for general research, microscopy, molecular biology, microbial culture, and data analysis. The existing greenhouse will expand from 700 sf to 1,460 sf and 1,550 sf of lab space will be renovated. The project is supported by $604 million in federal stimulus funding. Construction will begin in spring of 2011.
Southeast Alabama Medical Center Plans Osteopathy College
Southeast Alabama Medical Center will begin construction in 2011 on the $40 million Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan. Occupancy is expected in fall of 2012. The construction cost of the project is $25 million.
