Lunera Lighting Introduces 1200 Series LED Grid Lay-in Fixture
Lunera Lighting, a Silicon Valley company that designs, manufactures, and markets next-generation LED lighting, has announced the commercial availability of the 1200 Series Grid Lay-in Fixture. The energy efficient, dimmable, backlit luminaire provides high quality and affordable commercial lighting. The backlit design with removable LED modules for field serviceability enables easy upgrades, increasing the return on the initial fixture investment.
Dana-Farber Dedicates Yawkey Center for Cancer Care
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute dedicated the 275,000-sf Yawkey Center for Cancer Care in Boston in January of 2011. Designed by Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects, the 14-story outpatient facility houses a clinical research center, 104 exam rooms, 139 infusion chairs, and 17 consultation rooms. The center provides integrated treatment and research facilities in an environment with abundant natural light to promote healing. The sustainably designed building features a heat recovery system, automated sunshades, and a green roof.
Meadows Regional Medical Center Opens in Vidalia
Meadows Regional Medical Center completed its $75 million replacement hospital in January of 2011 in Vidalia, Ga. The facility was built by American Health Facilities Development, a subsidiary of Quorum Health Resources. The 194,000-sf hospital includes 64 private patient rooms, six surgical suites, and an emergency department with 24 treatment rooms.
City University of New York Builds Research Facilities
City University of New York has awarded Skanska USA a $92 million contract to construct two research buildings in Harlem, N.Y. A 473,000-sf facility will house labs, a 100-seat lecture hall, and a cafeteria. The second building will provide 247,000 sf of laboratory space for biology, chemistry, and physics. Construction began in January of 2011 with completion expected in summer of 2014.
Ford Renovates Louisville Assembly Plant
Ford Motor Company is initiating a $600 million renovation of its Louisville Assembly Plant. The project includes infrastructure upgrades and retooling to provide a flexible, high-volume facility. Production will begin in late 2011.
