University of Notre Dame Completes Stinson-Remick Hall
The University of Notre Dame completed construction on the $70 million Stinson-Remick Hall in January of 2010. The 142,000-sf facility is located in Notre Dame, Ind., and houses a nanotechnology research center, an energy center, an 11,800-sf semiconductor processing and device fabrication cleanroom, and an undergraduate learning center. Research Facilities Design (RFD) of San Diego provided laboratory programming and design services for the facility. The project architect was BSA LifeStructures of Indianapolis, Ind.
University of Arizona College of Medicine Builds Health Sciences Education Building
The University of Arizona College of Medicine will begin construction in late spring of 2010 on the $187 million Health Sciences Education Building. Located on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus, the 268,000-sf facility will be created in partnership with Arizona State University’s College of Nursing.
Rowan University Builds Cooper Medical School
Rowan University is partnering with Cooper University Hospital to construct Cooper Medical School in Camden, N.J. Construction will begin by June of 2010 and reach completion in 2011. The 160,000-sf campus will house classrooms, laboratories, a library, offices, and a vivarium for animal research.
King Abdullah Petroleum Study and Research Center Builds LEED Platinum Facilities
King Abdullah Petroleum Study and Research Center is constructing a 3.8 million-sf mixed-use research complex Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project is expected to attain LEED Platinum sustainable design certification and is slated for completion in 2011. The KAPSARC development will include petroleum research facilities as well as residential, community, and commercial space. HOK is the architect for the project with Syska Hennessy as engineer and Aramco as general contractor.
Murray-Calloway County Hospital Opens South Tower
Murray-Calloway County Hospital opened the $62 million South Tower in March of 2010. Located in Murray, Ky., the five-story, 158,000-sf facility features an emergency room, a helipad, inpatient rooms, imaging and radiology labs, surgical suites, and a critical care unit.
