Mercy Memorial Hospital broke ground on the Monroe Cancer Center in March of 2010. Created in partnership with ProMedica Health System of Toledo and Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center of Detroit, the 10,000-sf facility will be a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center offering integrated medical and radiation oncology services. The project team includes architect Hobb and Black Associates of Ann Arbor and construction manager Contracting Resources of Brighton, Mich.

Aurora College broke ground in March of 2010 on the $11 million Western Arctic Research Institute in Inuvik, Canada. Located in the Northwest Territories two degrees above the Arctic Circle, the sustainably-designed facility will house three flexible laboratories that can be adapted into classrooms, conference rooms, space for visiting researchers, and a workshop. Completion is expected in March of 2011.

Pennsylvania State University was awarded $14.8 million in stimulus funding in March of 2010 to construct a biocontainment laboratory in University Park. The 20,000-sf laboratory will support research on infectious diseases and pathogens. Construction will begin in early 2011 and reach completion within two years.

MEMSIC completed construction in March of 2010 on its new R&D and manufacturing complex in Wuxi, China. The 224,000-sf project is comprised of a 130,000-sf manufacturing facility and a 94,000-sf R&D center. MEMSIC is a MEMS sensing solution provider.

The Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory broke ground on a BSL-3 laboratory in Amarillo in March of 2010. The addition and renovation project is slated for completion in early 2011. The facility will support rapid response to agricultural or zoonotic disease threats.
