Florida Hospital DeLand Builds Victoria Medical Park

Florida Hospital DeLand began construction on the $14 million Victoria Medical Park facility in February of 2010. Located in DeLand, Fla., the 25,000-sf outpatient building will house imaging, physician offices, rehabilitation and sports medicine, women’s diagnostics, and a laboratory. The project was designed by Lillibridge with Freese Construction Co. as general contractor. Completion is expected by year-end 2010. Florida Hospital DeLand is part of Adventist Health System.

University of Louisville's Clinical and Translational Research Building Attains LEED Gold

The University of Louisville was awarded LEED Gold sustainable design certification for its $143 million Clinical and Translational Research Building in February of 2010. The 288,000-sf project was designed by Arrasmith, Judd, Rapp, Chovan of Louisville and SmithGroup of Detroit. The general contractor was Messer Construction of Cincinnati. Ground was broken on the project in February of 2006 with completion in October of 2009.

Hewlett-Packard Opens Wind-Cooled Data Center

Hewlett-Packard Co. opened a new 360,000-sf data center in February of 2010. Located in Wynyard in the United Kingdom, the facility is cooled by wind and uses approximately 40 percent less energy than a conventional data center.

Kaiser Permanente Constructs Ontario Vineyard Medical Center

Kaiser Permanente is constructing the 386,000-sf Ontario Vineyard Medical Center in Ontario, Calif. Ground was broken on the five-story, 224-bed hospital in January of 2008 with completion expected in August of 2011. The $550 million project includes a 36-bed emergency room and medical specialties in cardiology, nephrology, OB/GYN, orthopedics, and urology. The hospital is being constructed on Kaiser’s healthcare facility template.

Palomar Pomerado Health Builds Escondido Hospital

Palomar Pomerado Health is constructing the $925 million Palomar Medical Center West in Escondido, Calif. Sited on 37 acres, the 11-story hospital will house 300 inpatient beds when it opens in 2011. The 1.2 million-sf project broke ground in fall of 2007 and is being managed by DPR Construction. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the facility.
