St. Mary's Medical Center Breaks Ground on Cancer Center
St. Mary’s Medical Center broke ground on the $23 million Cancer Center in San Francisco in March of 2010. The 14,200-sf facility will feature a digital mammography suite. The project is part of $26 million capital improvement plan that will include a new vascular suite in the hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab.
University of Connecticut Health Center Renovates Center for Laboratory Animal Care
The University of Connecticut Health Center was awarded $7.9 million in March of 2010 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to renovate the Center for Laboratory Animal Care in Farmington. The project will provide modernized laboratories and care facilities for animal science instruction and research.
Palo Alto Medical Foundation Constructs Breast Cancer Center
Palo Alto Medical Foundation is constructing a $23 million breast cancer center in Palo Alto, Calif. The two-story, 20,000-sf facility is slated for completion in late 2010. Ground was broken on the project in fall of 2009. The center will house outpatient care, imaging, and office space.
EPA Names Kimberly-Clark 2010 Energy Star Partner of the Year
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has named Kimberly-Clark Corporation as a 2010 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year. For the second consecutive year, K-C will be recognized for its energy management practices and commitment to sustainable operations, resulting in significant energy and financial savings. Kimberly-Clark is being honored for its continued focus on achieving its energy efficiency targets for its manufacturing processes as well as its energy conservation goals for all of its facilities.
Princeton University Constructs Neuroscience and Psychology Buildings
Princeton University began construction in March of 2010 on the Neuroscience and Psychology Buildings in Princeton, N.J. Designed by José Rafael Moneo Arquitecto of Madrid, the $180 million complex will house the interdisciplinary Princeton Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Psychology. The 248,000-gsf project will provide research facilities, faculty offices, conference rooms, and instructional space. A joint-use facility at the lowest level of the neuroscience facility will house advanced imaging and microscopy labs including three fMRI suites.
