Pabst Brewing Co. Relocates Corporate Offices

San Antonio-based Pabst Brewing Co. has relocated its corporate offices from the 22-acre Pearl Brewery site to 22,000 sf in North Central San Antonio's Interpark business park. The move is part of an effort to consolidate in San Antonio offices and functions previously dispersed cross-country. Pabst has also relocated warehouse functions from Milwaukee to 35,000 sf of leased warehouse space in the Alamo Downs business park on the Northwest Side.

Carter Holdings To Open New Distribution Center

Carter Holdings, a maker of children's clothing, has leased 500,000 sf of warehouse space at Eagle's Landing TradeCenter III in Henry County, Ga. The distribution center, Carter's fourth distribution facility in Georgia, will be operational in April 2003.

Basler Electric To Open Taylor Plant

Basler Electric Co., a Highland, Ill.-based electronic components manufacturer, will open an 18,000-sf plant in Taylor, Texas, to produce custom transformers, generator controls, and relay systems for the industrial, commercial, and electric utility markets. Basler will invest $3-million to upgrade a facility that will employ a minimum of 50 workers. The plant, Basler's seventh manufacturing plant in Taylor, is expected to reach completion in April 2003.

Frase Enterprises Relocates to Hayward Warehouse

Frase Enterprises is relocating to 82,000 sf of warehouse and distribution space in Hayward's Davis Court Industrial Center. The electrical hardware company was previously based in San Francisco. The facility will provide space for manufacturing, offices and storage. The 142,322-sf Davis Court complex is sited on six acres.

Honda Power Equipment Manufacturing Expands Swepsonville Factory

Honda Power Equipment Manufacturing (HPE) is investing $30-million in an expansion of its Swepsonville factory. The project will add a third production line, implement facility improvements, and create an additional 200 full-time jobs. Slated for completion in early 2004, the expansion will increase HPE's capacity for multi-purpose power equipment engines by 50 percent to 1.5 million units annually in 2004.

Slated for completion in 2004, the project could expand up to 1.3-million-sf. Catellus is also developing a 346,000-sf facility for APL in Romeoville, Ill.

Atlanta-based Kinetic Biosystems Inc. (KBI) will site its planned $40-million contract biomanufacturing facility in an existing building in north Durham's Teer Technical Park, a five-building campus previously occupied by Mitsubishi Semiconductor America. The facility is expected to open in late 2004 or early 2005. KBI was previously housed in an incubator associated with Georgia Institute of Technology where it focused on developing bioreactor technology.

Flextronics Expands Youngsville Plant

Singapore-based Flextronics International is engaged in a $20-million, 560,000-sf expansion of its Youngsville, N.C., manufacturing facility. One of two U.S. technology campuses, the facility will house design, engineering, testing, and manufacturing operations for optical communications products. The project will enable Flextronics to add approximately 1,500 additional jobs.
