Franklin Machine Products Builds Burlington County Headquarters

Franklin Machine Products (FMP) is constructing a new $5.5-million headquarters in Lumberton, N.J. The 80,000-sf facility will double the size of the food-service supplies manufacturer's existing Evansham operations; the Evansham plant will be sold when FMP's headquarters is completed in May 2003. Preliminary site work has begun on the building, which will house 20,000 sf of corporate offices and 60,000 sf of warehouse space.

KLA-Tencor Opens Livermore Facility

KLA-Tencor Corp. of San Jose celebrated the opening of its new 120,000-sf Livermore facility in November 2002.   Consolidating twelve training sites, the training and customer support center has now been occupied by 200 employees. The facility houses 31 state-of-the-art classrooms. KLA-Tencor has completed construction of an additional manufacturing building on the site which will remain closed until market demand increases.

FedEx Plans San Leandro Facility

FedEx will occupy a 65,000-sf facility on a six-acre parcel in an industrial business park planned in San Leandro, Calif. Developed by McMahon Development Group LLC, the 21-acre park is comprised of nine parcels and will include up to seven additional light industrial facilities totalling 300,000 sf. These planned buildings are being marketed to eco-industrial users, companies who divert and utilize materials that would otherwise go into the city landfill.

Toyota Plans Tijuana Painting and Assembly Facility

Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America has selected Albert Kahn Associates (AKA), in collaboration with local consultant Hermosillo y Asociados Arquitectos S.C. (HyAA) to provide full architectural and engineering services for a new greenfield facility for the painting of Tacoma truck beds. The project is comprised primarily of a paint shop with welding and assembly capabilities.

Nissan Expands Farmington Hills Technical Center

Nissan Technical Center North America (NTCNA) is engaged in a 126,000-sf expansion of its Technical Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The $38.8-million project is comprised of additions to the engineering building, prototyping, testing, and styling (PTS) building, parking lots and styling studio, as well as improvements to the facility's mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

Toyota Expands Mansfield Office

Toyota has completed the expansion and renovation and of its regional Mansfield office. The eight-month project, performed by Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction, involved 26,518 sf of renovations and construction of a 3,400-sf addition.

Forbo Adhesives Establishes Morrisville Headquarters

Formulated adhesives manufacturer Forbo Adhesives LLC will locate its North American headquarters in 25,000-sf of lab and office space in Morrisville's Keystone Park. The project will cost an estimated $3-million and will create 60 new Durham County jobs. Forbo Adhesives maintains manufacturing facilities in Dallas and Omaha, and is a subsidiary of Zurich, Switzerland-based Forbo International SA.

CCW Group Consolidates Richmond Operations

Logistics firm CCW Group is consolidating seven separate Richmond locations with a move to the new 400,000-sf James River Logistics Center located on 75 acres in Richmond, Va. The two-building center employs 150 workers. A third 400,000-sf facility is also planned for the site.

Carnot Emission Services Occupies KellyUSA Facility

Carnot Emission Services, a provider of precision emissions testing for worldwide engine manufacturers, occupied 10,500 sf of lab space in San Antonio's KellyUSA Building 333 in October 2002. The company has access to an additional 5,000 sf for use as a machine shop. Carnot plans to expand to encompass the entire 29,500-sf facility in the future.

Medline Industries Establishes RTP Distribution Center

Medical equipment distributor Medline Industries will establish its distribution center for Virginia and the Carolinas in the recently purchased CenterPoint I warehouse in Research Triangle Park. The two-year-old facility totals 323,000 sf. Medline will vacate its existing 60,000-sf space in Durham's Research Tri Center.

Genzyme Adds Two Bio-Reactors To Allston Plant

Cambridge-based Genzyme Corp. is adding two bioreactors to its $200-million, 180,000-sf Allston Landing facility. Expanding its biomanufacturing capacity, the plant will total six 2,000-liter bioreactors with the $30-million addition of the two new bioreactors, which should be operational by mid-2003.

Madern USA Plans Apex Manufacturing Facility

Madern USA, subsidiary of the Dutch rotary tool maker Madern, will build a 25,000-sf to 30,000-sf facility on six acres purchased in Apex, N.C.'s Pinnacle Park. The facility will house an expanded production line and enable the company to double its workforce over the next few years. As the Dutch company's sole plant outside the Netherlands, Madern USA is currently housed in 7,000 sf of leased space in Pinnacle Park.

Aero Plastics Opens McDonough Manufacturing Facility

Aero Plastics, maker of plastic storage products, will open its new 455,000-sf manufacturing facility in McDonough, Ga., in November. Located in Henry County's Greenwood Industrial Park, the facility was selected partially due to proximity to one of Aero's prime customers, The Home Depot Inc.

ITE Corp. To Occupy SouthCreek Distribution Center

International Truck & Engine Corp. (ITE), an Illinois-based manufacturer of diesel engines, trucks, and automotive components, will occupy the 352,170-sf SouthCreek Distribution Center in South Fulton County in March 2003. The building includes cross-dock loading, 30-foot-clear ceilings, an ESFR (early suppression, fast response) sprinkler system, and security features such as extra-thick walls and super-durable doors. ITE is the operating company of Navistar International Corp.
