Oregon Health & Science University Breaks Ground on Knight Cancer Institute

Published 7/15/2016

Oregon Health & Science University broke ground in June of 2016 on the $160 Knight Cancer Institute in Portland. Designed by SRG Partnership to foster multidisciplinary collaboration, the seven-story, 320,000-sf facility is located on the South Waterfront Campus and will provide biomedical laboratories, administrative offices, interaction hubs, core labs, a 200-seat auditorium, and space for clinical trials. Featuring an integrated balance of wet and dry research spaces, the building will support programs in computational biology, early cancer detection, and immuno-oncology. The project team, which includes McCarthy Building Companies and Andersen Construction, is using an Integrated Project Delivery process to optimize budget, timeline, and resource efficiencies. Completion of the sustainably designed facility is expected in July of 2018.
