Spokane, Wash.

The University of Washington and Gonzaga University opened the $60 million Health Partnership Building in Spokane in August of 2022. Located at the gateway to the Gonzaga campus, the interdisciplinary center collocates students and faculty from both institutions to create new opportunities for learning and discovery. The 90,000-sf facility offers interactive classrooms, teaching and research labs, faculty offices, a fitness hub, and a state-of-the-art anatomy suite. Fostering collaboration between graduate and undergraduate students, the four-story project provides leased space for the UW School of Medicine and Gonzaga's programs in human physiology and nursing. The top floor will act as a life sciences innovation center with rentable space for industry partners.

Designed by CollinsWoerman, the highly sustainable structure integrates advanced mechanical systems, photovoltaic arrays, and onsite renewable energy generation technologies. Featuring an interior green wall on the first floor, the Health Partnership Building is 100 percent electric with exception of a rooftop generator. McKinstry was the developer for the public-private project, which is owned and managed by affiliate firm Emerald Initiative. Bouton Construction broke ground on the facility in September of 2020.
