California State University, Fullerton broke ground in June of 2025 on the College of Engineering and Computer Science Innovation Hub. Gensler designed the $85 million facility as collaborative workspace that will empower the next generation of innovators and industry professionals to solve real-world challenges. Rising next to the existing engineering building, the 42,000-sf structure will offer teaching and research labs, maker spaces, immersive learning environments, and areas for project-based exploration. Specialized settings will include:

  • GPS/Navigation and Critical Systems Lab
  • Advanced Computer and Artificial Intelligence Lab
  • Cybersecurity Range and Data Center
  • Advanced Manufacturing Lab
  • Bio and Health Technology Lab
  • Drone Experience Lab

Featuring a 120-seat multipurpose venue, this vibrant nexus for creativity and engagement will transform the student experience by integrating curricular and skills-based instruction with cocurricular activities. Lounges and study zones will be accompanied by wellness amenities, meeting rooms, and offices. Spaces are organized by function in a highly efficient layout that promotes maximum utilization and flexibility. The all-electric building will leverage advanced systems to optimize energy performance and reduce emissions. A sophisticated façade composed of steel and glass will admit natural light while reducing heat gain and glare.

Accommodating a dramatic increase in enrollment, the three-story hub will support workforce development initiatives to meet the needs of Orange County's thriving aerospace and technology sectors. Interaction with corporate partners will drive groundbreaking discoveries and fuel regional economic growth. C.W. Driver Companies is delivering the project for a construction contract value of $54 million. Other team members include P2S, KPFF Consulting Engineers, Saiful Bouquet, and LandLab. Occupancy is expected in fall of 2027.
