Ivy Tech Community College broke ground in May of 2026 on the Nursing and Health Sciences building on its north campus in Fort Wayne, Ind. The 50,000-sf facility will expand enrollment capacity, modernize healthcare training, and strengthen the region’s pipeline of healthcare professionals. Designed by CSO Architects to replicate a hospital environment, the leading-edge structure will provide students with an immersive educational experience that aligns with real-world clinical settings.

In addition to advanced simulation labs and patient care suites, the two-story development will house dynamic venues for collaborative learning, eight 30-seat classrooms, conference spaces for both huddle and focus activities, and staff offices. Two 15-bed nursing labs will be accompanied by one eight-bed certified nursing assistant (CNA) lab. A surgical suite will offer two simulation operating rooms as well as associated sterile processing rooms. Further dedicated labs will serve respiratory therapy, medical assisting, phlebotomy, medical technology, and paramedic science.

Shiel Sexton is the construction manager for the transformative building with MKM architecture + design as the healthcare architect. JPS Consulting Engineers and Introba USA are also contributing their expertise. Occupancy is slated for January of 2028. The facility is part of a $67 million project spanning multiple phases that includes renovations on the Coliseum campus and the demolition of both Harshman and Carroll Halls.
