The University of Houston officially began construction on the Innovation Hub in April of 2026. Designed for seamless connectivity by Page (now part of Stantec), the 78,000-sf facility will house the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, the Energy Transition Institute, and the Dakri Center for Economic Inclusion. Advanced laboratory space for science and engineering will enable critical work in fields such as health, energy, security, and sustainability. A multidisciplinary maker space on the first floor will provide the entire campus community with access to a creative environment where ideas can be translated into real-world solutions.
The $81.7 million development will bring together students, faculty, and industry leaders to drive collaboration, spark novel insights, and strengthen the local talent pipeline. Targeting LEED Silver certification, the four-story structure will integrate salvaged exterior limestone from the Technology Annex Building, which it will replace. A specialized screen will mitigate glare while decreasing annual sunlight exposure from 60 percent to less than 10 percent. Room acoustics will be enhanced with industrial felt. The project is being delivered by Vaughn Construction and occupancy is slated for early 2028.
