Virginia Tech Constructs New Business Building

Virginia Tech is constructing the New Business Building in Blacksburg to accommodate the growing Pamplin College of Business. Designed by Moseley Architects and RAMSA | Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the 92,300-gsf facility will provide modernized research venues and immersive educational environments to enhance career readiness. A student learning accelerator will be accompanied by career services zones, networking spaces, and leading-edge collaboration areas that enable interaction with industry partners. The four-story structure will also offer advanced classrooms, team rooms, data visualization labs, and administrative offices, as well as housing the Apex Center for Entrepreneurship and the Marriott Hokie Hospitality Lab. 

Consolidating multiple departments from across the college, the approximately $94 million development will integrate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to solve complex, data-driven challenges while elevating business education. A full-height atrium will connect to the Data and Decision Sciences Building to promote cross-disciplinary idea exchange and a cohesive learning experience. Together, these two facilities will form the academic portion of the new 220,000-sf Global Business and Analytics Complex within the university’s growing North Academic District. 

Kjellstrom and Lee is the general contractor. The project team also includes 2RW Consultants, VHB, Howe Engineers, Froehling & Robertson, NV5, Core Studio Design, Forella Group, and Ricca Design Studios. Construction began in fall of 2025 and completion is expected in 2027.
