UC Berkeley Breaks Ground on Bakar Labs for Energy + Materials

The University of California, Berkeley broke ground in November of 2025 on the Bakar Labs for Energy + Materials to establish beacon for excellence in entrepreneurship. The 146,000-sf facility will provide world-class wet laboratories and collaboration space for research initiatives and up to 75 early-stage companies. Designed by Gensler to ensure flexibility and adaptability through a reconfigurable framework, the five-story structure will house 3D printing studios, offices, and meeting and conference rooms.

Chicago Fire FC Plans New Soccer Stadium

Chicago Fire FC is planning to construct a $650 million soccer stadium in downtown Chicago. Designed by Gensler, the dynamic sports destination will accommodate up to 22,000 fans, offering premium seating options including 50 suites, over 500 loge seats, and 3,500 club seats with access to exclusive recreational venues. The bowl will be arranged to bring fans dramatically closer to the natural grass pitch to enhance the match-viewing experience, and three field-level suites will be dispersed amid the player benches.

East Texas A&M University Builds Athletic Event Center

NASA’s Exploration Park Gains Momentum

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will begin construction in late 2025 on the first phase of Exploration Park in Houston. Developed by the American Center for Manufacturing and Innovation (ACMI) and Griffin Partners, the dynamic ecosystem will provide up to 22 facilities with leasable environments for commercial space innovation. Build-to-suit options will range from 50,000 sf to 250,000 sf, with multi-tenant structures offering footprints of 15,000 sf to 100,000 sf.
