Indianapolis

Indiana University broke ground in October of 2022 on the $230 million Medical Education Building in Indianapolis. Designed by Perkins&Will and Browning Day, the 326,000-gsf complex will provide the School of Medicine with state-of-the-art environments for teaching and research. Featuring a spacious atrium, the first three floors of the 11-story building will house classrooms, lecture halls, and a café. Specialized rooms for learning communities will encourage small groups to interact and collaborate. Two lower levels will accommodate simulation suites, a surgical skills center, an anatomy lab, a library, practice exam rooms, and additional classrooms. Rising from the academic base building, an eight-story research tower clad in energy-efficient glazing will provide sophisticated laboratories for the study of neurodegenerative diseases and other conditions. An underground tunnel will offer connectivity to Goodman Hall and the Neuroscience Research Building. Completion is expected in November of 2024.

Representing the largest construction project in the history of the School of Medicine, the facility will join IU Health's consolidated downtown hospital campus to create an integrated nexus of research, teaching, and clinical care.
