Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is constructing a $156 million comprehensive cancer hub and a $186 million clinical sciences building to ensure access to treatment throughout the West Texas region and enhance patient outcomes. The Steve and Nancy Fox Cancer Center is being created in partnership with University Medical Center of El Paso, and is supported by over $130 million in state funding and a $30 million county bond. Designed by HDR, the five-story structure will span over 350,000 sf in total, consolidating imaging, radiation, chemotherapy, clinical trials, and preventative outreach under one roof.
Features include:
An 82,000-gsf oncology clinic will combine radiation therapy with medical services and will house two linear accelerators, HDR brachytherapy equipment, and a computed tomograph simulator, as well as exam rooms, consultation rooms, and procedure rooms.
A 12,000-gsf infusion center will provide 25 infusion positions, private patient environments, and support settings for clinical operations.
A 49,000-gsf imaging center will offer the latest technology for CT, X-ray, PET, MRI, mammography, radiology, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and theranostics. Clinical support space occupying 18,000 gsf will include collaboration areas, resident touchdown zones, and nurses’ stations.
A further 42,000 gsf will accommodate research and clinical trials, a conference zone, an infusion pharmacy, phlebotomy and lab areas, and administrative offices.
