State Tax University (STU) has selected Stantec to design a major redevelopment of its campus in Irpin, Ukraine. Located 12 miles from the capital city of Kyiv, this landmark institution prepares students for degrees in public finance, law, and accounting, and is the only university in the country chartered by the Ministry of Finance. The visionary project goes beyond the mere replacement of previous structures to reimagine the campus as a catalyst for academic, social, and ecological regeneration.
A dynamic central gathering hub will serve as a community destination where faculty, students, innovators, and civic partners will engage in collaborative exchange. More than a building, it will provide an open framework for the future that offers a platform for learning and renewal. The planning process will be guided by the principle of Design for All: an inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable approach that ensures equity, accessibility, and long-term value. Featuring welcoming public settings and inviting green spaces, the transformed campus will further the university's aspiration to become a regional and international center of excellence in research and education.
Stantec was selected from among 49 entries in the STU International Architectural Competition, which was sponsored by the Center for Innovation, a U.S.-based nonprofit, in association with STU, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, and the volunteer building organization Dobrobat. The jury was chaired by Wendy Hillis, Associate Vice Chancellor and Campus Architect at the University of California, Berkeley, with Vitalii Melnyk, Vice President of Ukranian Development Partners, acting as secretary.
