The University of Texas System is creating UTA West, a new regional campus for education and training in Fort Worth. Representing an estimated investment of $600 million, the multiphase project is slated to include five buildings totaling 930,000 gsf on the north parcel, as well as a 1,589-space parking garage. Up to four more structures could rise on the south parcel at a later stage. The dynamic, future-facing complex is strategically situated to meet academic needs in one of the fastest growing areas in the United States, and is envisioned as a destination for innovative programs in engineering, nursing, public health, business, social work, and public policy. Fostering engagement with industry partners, UTA West will be a catalyst for economic growth that equips the next generation of professionals with the competencies to succeed in a rapidly evolving employment landscape. The sustainable development will enhance access to the research ecosystem of the University of Texas at Arlington, a Carnegie R1 institution, and could eventually serve up to 12,000 students.

Construction is beginning in March of 2026 on the first building, which will provide teaching labs, classrooms, student services, a library, and a café. Supported by $149.5 million in funding, the flexible facility was designed by HKS to easily adapt to changing priorities as the campus grows. The landmark structure will back up to a waterfront park, with an outdoor courtyard offering an inspiring setting for instruction, interaction, and events. Delivered by Hensel Phelps, this central hub is expected to welcome approximately 1,000 students in fall of 2028.
